“Beside the lake of dreaming’s—the yearn for safe nest.
The shelter from the winter of our weariness.”
An instinctual response to experiencing Lake Wendouree in the Ballarat winter—the view across the water, my own concerns about its bird inhabitants circled by human inhabitants.
An awareness of our common need for shelter on this earth— our universal dreaming of a safe nest, with-in and without.
Remembering recent local media that mentioned Lake Wendouree as the home of a raising population of Eurasian Coot’s, who feed off the crushed acorns on the road, making them vulnerable to being killed by passing cars.
